Project 2025 and The Trans Community
For anyone who is not trans, this is the part of Project 2025 we, who are trans, are zeroing in on and concerned about. For those of you who are cisgender read this and understand that Project 2025 wants to declare us as being pornography. They want to make our existence become illegal. This is their way of working towards trying to eliminate us from society.
They want to do this first by declaring there are only two sexes, men and women. Whatever sex you were declared at your birth is what you are in accordance with Project 2025. They don't care that there is a conflict between the sex you were assigned at birth and the gender you feel inside you. That your mind doesn't align with the your body. That is what transgender is, what it means. That our mind and body does not match up together. It is how we are born. Being trans is not a choice. It is not a decision to become. It is what you are born as. Just as some people are born left handed instead of right handed, some are born transgender instead of cisgender. But Project 2025 would punish us for how we are born. Punish us simply because we exist. Punish us because it is easier then understanding us. Understand this. There is no time in man's existence that trans people did not exist. There is no place on this earth that trans individuals do not exist. From the hijra of India to the muxes of Mexico to the Bakla of the Phillipines to the two-spirits of some of the indigenous North American tribes to many other places in the world trans people can be found everywhere. In the history of man, in every culture, and every society, in every empire trans people have existed. And we will continue to exist, Project 2025 be damned because just as trans people have always existed in history, trans people will always continue to exist.
As some of you may know I am a writer who writes mostly poems. A portion of my poetry deals with my being transgender and about the transgender community and the issues we face in life. Project 2025 would take my first amendment rights away of free speech by declaring my poetry as pornography because I am writing about trans issues and trans people. Ironically in the past the Supreme Court has ruled that pornography is protected by the first amendment. With Project 2025 however it wouldn't matter. Writing about being transgender is pornography that can get you arrested and first amendment rights won't protect you. First amendment rights would be suspended if not possibly downright eliminated. Project 2025 will go to all costs to silence us within the trans community. Erase our words and silence our voices as it reduces us to something much less then second class citizens.
So as I end this think of this. If Project 2025 was already in effect I would not be able to write this right now. Everything I wrote would be labeled as pornography. It would get me arrested and if found guilty I would be sent to prison. But because I was proclaimed a boy at birth i wouldn't be sent to a women's prison. I would be sent to a men's prison. It doesn't matter I have lived openly as a woman for 22 years now. It doesn't matter I had the surgery over 21 years ago to physically become a woman. I would be sent to a men's prison because in the end Project 2025 would allow the government to take controll of my life and tell me who i will be. Tell me how I must live my life by their rules with no freedom to be who I must be but by their dictates of how I will live my life. Or else!
But this won't effect only me. This will effect every single man, woman, and child in this country who are born transgender. Being punished for how we are born and acting on the need to adjust our lives to bring peace and contentment within us instead of living our lives the way the government would dictate how we must live our life.
As transgender individuals we just want to live our lives to bring peace for ourselves from the internal conflict nature placed on us. And in the middle of all that we live and work and earn a paycheck to pay the bills and the taxes we owe. We fall in love and marry and raise families. We take part in our communities. We are doctors and lawyers. We work in law enforcement and emergency rescue. We are teachers and preachers. We work in retail and manual labor and we work in government whether in a city, county, state or federal level. Trans people live and work throughout all levels of American society. And all of us who do are living with deep concern about this upcoming election. We are concerned bordering on worrying about the conservatives and MAGAs winning this election and implementing Project 2025 because our lives and our well being will be in serious jeopardy. It is no exaggeration to say, for us who are transgender, our lives are at stake.
